Programs

The Lakeland All-Star Basketball teams have been in existence since 2009. This program has been endorsed and partially funded by the City of College Park. The teams consist of youth of College Park and the Lakeland Community between the ages of 9-18. The teams play in a Christian Summer Basketball League coached by men of strong character and moral values. The teams also participate in the College Park Dream Team program that was created to strengthen relationships between youth and law enforcement agencies.

 

The program seeks to develop our youth as a whole person by emphasizing:

 

• Group interaction
• Character development
• Health and fitness
• Self-discipline
• Conflict management
• Goal setting
• Decision making

 

In addition to the traditional elements of team play which promote fitness, self- discipline, and highlighting the importance of teamwork. Through this program participants  gain life skills which give them the ability to make good decisions which will assist them in setting and carrying out life goals. They also gain knowledge about the negative effects of alcohol and illicit drug use and be able to effectively avoid involvement with these substances.
